Post Date:06/23/2016 9:50 AM

Carrollton Fire Rescue 2011 Patch Become a part of the award-winning Carrollton Fire Rescue Team. Registration for the City of Carrollton firefighter entrance exam is now open through Friday, July 22.

The exam will be administered Saturday, July 23 at 9 a.m. in the Newman Smith High School cafeteria (2335 N. Josey Lane).

An employment application must also be completed online at cityofcarrollton.com/jobs during the open application period from Tuesday, July 5 through Friday, August 12.

To be eligible for certification, applicants must take an entrance examination for a beginning position in the fire department and be at least 18 years of age, but no more than 35-years-old by the date of exam according to Chapter 143 of the Texas Local Government Code.

“We are looking for unique individuals with strong character and a commitment to the safety of those who live in this community. Applicants who are dedicated and loyal, with a high degree of personal accountability are ideal candidates,” said Assistant Fire Chief Mark Haseloff. “We are asking for the best and will get the best through our hiring process because that is what our citizens expect.”

In fact, with CFR being a top ranking North Texas public safety agency, the department requires a heightened level of physical fitness, enthusiasm for learning, as well as a pledge from candidates, cadets, EMTs, paramedics, and firefighters to learn and grow professionally.

The department focuses heavily on training and equipment as well. CFR is one of three area fire departments to share a joint training facility beginning early 2017. The state-of-the-art training structure is six stories high with over 7,000 sq. ft. of space to run multiple drills, burns, and repelling exercises.

Haseloff encourages community-minded citizens to “come take the challenge of becoming part of a progressive team that responds quickly, makes a positive difference, and returns home safely.”
