Carrollton Pet Photo Contest Wraps Up Another Successful Year
The City of Carrollton extends its gratitude to everyone who submitted photos of their pets for entry into the 2017 Carrollton Pet Photo wall calendar.
Photo submissions from residents raised $650 this year and as always, all proceeds go directly to the Carrollton Animal Services & Adoption Center for resources such as food, medicine, cleaning supplies, and treatment of sick or injured animals.
“This contest has become both fun and important,” Animal Services Manager Carl Shooter said. “I want to thank our community for their participation as this funding will go a long way in helping the animals in our care.”
The contest ran from February to August and saw nearly 150 photo submissions from local pet lovers. Amber Lopez and her dog Akira won the Grand Prize calendar cover. The 12 winners whose pets will grace the pages of each month were notified this week via email. All winners will receive a free calendar and a free professional photo session from Kim Ortiz Photography.
The City will launch the sale of the calendars at the Pooch Pool Party on Saturday, September 10 at Rosemeade Rainforest Aquatic Complex (1334 Rosemeade Parkway). Calendars are $10 (including tax) and will go on sale at City facilities on Monday, September 12. Cash or check only at City Hall, Marketing Services.
Sponsors for the Carrollton Pet Photo Calendar include Kim Ortiz Photography and North Carrollton Veterinary Hospital.
Carrollton Animal Services reminds residents to take special care of their pets during these hot summer months. Avoid leaving animals in hot cars or outside for long periods of the day. Also avoid going on walks while pavement and sidewalks are especially hot as the surface may cause burns or injuries to a pet's paws. As always, remember to pick up after your pets!
