Festival at the Switchyard Announces Children’s Entertainment Lineup
In addition to the free rides and games offered at Carrollton’s 7th Annual Festival at the Switchyard, the younger crowd can also expect to have a great time inside the Plaza Arts Center watching magicians, comedians, jugglers, and a little marionette action as well!
A full children’s entertainment lineup will kick off at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 5 with an interactive and educational Story Time led by the Carrollton Public Library. Story Time includes songs, finger plays, action rhymes, and puppetry to help develop a love of language and reading.
At 2 p.m. and again at 4 p.m., Geppetto’s Marionette Theater will dazzle their audience with unique and colorful string puppets within a cleverly performed show that will entertain all ages. This old-world type of storytelling can introduce children to the charm of live theater and the engaging, imaginative experience of puppeteering!
Tricia Gregory of MerryMakers TOO will perform her magical act at 3 p.m. with a list of fun activities as long as your arm. From costumes and balloons, to storytelling and magic, this educational entertainment is sure to bring out the clown in us all.
Wrapping up the fun at the Plaza, DFW megastar Tharpo will take the stage by 4:30 p.m. A big name among Metroplex entertainment giants, Tharpo is a skilled juggler with a razor sharp wit. His performances often bring various props to fill out a variety show you and your little ones won’t want to miss! His career spans 20 years and is filled with talents such as clowning, miming, juggling, and of course unicycling.
Other acts outside the Plaza in front of the main stage include a return performance from the Carrollton Fire Rescue Pipes and Drums, a high flying (and kicking) demonstration by Sidekicks Karate, as well as a fun dance routine from A Body in Motion. Rounding out an afternoon of spectacle, the Dallas Sidekicks Dance Team will return to the Festival with another drill and cheer performance for everyone to enjoy!
Come enjoy a day of family fun and find out what Downtown Carrollton has to offer. When the kids are done for the day, head back out for free concerts including headliner Barenaked Ladies and opening act Shinyribs.
