Metrocrest Services Works to Fight Hunger

Post Date:04/05/2017 6:44 PM
Metrocrest Keyholder BreakfastMetrocrest Services is kicking off a new drive in the fight against hunger, and seeking to raise at least $100,000 from the community. The Metrocrest Hospital Authority will match the donations dollar-for-dollar, up to $100,000. The “foodraising” initiative was announced March 23 at the Metrocrest Services 12th Annual Keyholder Breakfast where more than $75,000 was raised to kick off this drive. This included an incredibly generous donation by Sam Pack’s Five Star Ford in Carrollton.

In 2016, the Metrocrest Services food pantry provided 549,190 meals to the community – a 28 percent increase from the previous year. So far in 2017, the non-profit has already seen a 17 percent increase in need. More than 200 families rely on Metrocrest Services for their groceries each week. While the need is increasing, current donations are not able to keep pace with the demand.

Contributing is easy: simply visit metrocrestservices.org and donate online (use “Food Pantry” under Fund Designation), or mail your gift to Metrocrest Services at 13801 Hutton Drive, Suite 150, Farmers Branch, TX 75234 and write “Pantry” in the check memo.
