The Carrollton City Council appointed member Glen Blanscet as Mayor Pro Tem and member John Sutter as Deputy Mayor Pro Tem during the June 27 meeting.
Blanscet was elected to Place 5 in 2015; his term will expire in 2018.
“I am deeply honored that Council unanimously elected me to serve as the Mayor Pro Tem,” Blanscet said. “I look forward to working with our new mayor, Kevin Falconer, and the new City Council in continuing to enhance our city by bringing in new businesses, redeveloping our aging neighborhoods and retail centers, strengthening our public safety, improving our streets, alleys, and parks, and building closer working relationships with our schools. Carrollton is a great city, and it is an honor to serve its citizens in this new capacity.”
Sutter was elected to Place 7 in 2015 and will complete his term in 2018.
“I am humbled by the support shown by my fellow City Council members in their nomination and my selection as Deputy Mayor Pro Tem,” Sutter said. “I hope to serve in this position as an advocate for the Council's shared priorities: public safety, economic development, positive redevelopment, strong infrastructure, and fiscal responsibility.”

Sutter went on to say that Carrollton is a great place to live, work, and play because of its interested and involved citizens.
“It is a place with social and economic diversity, beautiful and varied amenities, fearless first responders, and a professional and incredibly dedicated staff. I pledge to work in support, and enhancement of, each of these special Carrollton qualities.”
