Carrollton Fire Rescue is Hiring; Register for the August 5 Entrance Exam
Become a part of the award-winning Carrollton Fire Rescue (CFR) Team. Registration for the City of Carrollton firefighter entrance exam is open now through Friday, August 4.
The exam will be administered Saturday, August 5 at 9 a.m. in the Newman Smith High School cafeteria (2335 N. Josey Lane).
To be eligible for certification, applicants must take an entrance examination for a beginning position in the fire department and be at least 18 years of age, but no more than 35-years-old by the date of exam according to Chapter 143 of the Texas Local Government Code.
An employment application must also be completed online at cityofcarrollton.com/jobs during the open application period, now through Friday, August 18.
The department focuses heavily on training and equipment. CFR is one of four area fire departments to share a joint training facility opening August 2017. The state-of-the-art training structure is six stories high with over 7,000 sq. ft. of space to run multiple drills, burns, and rappelling exercises.
“We are looking for unique individuals with strong character and a commitment to the safety of those who live in this community. Applicants who are dedicated and loyal, with a high degree of personal accountability are ideal candidates,” said Assistant Fire Chief Mark Haseloff. “We are asking for the best and will get the best through our hiring process because that is what our citizens expect.”
In fact, with CFR being a top-ranking North Texas public safety agency, the department requires a heightened level of physical fitness, enthusiasm for learning, as well as a pledge from candidates, cadets, EMTs, paramedics, and firefighters to learn and grow professionally.
Haseloff encourages community-minded citizens to “come take the challenge of becoming part of a progressive team that responds quickly, makes a positive difference, and returns home safely.”
