Carrollton Fire Rescue Receives Generous Donation from Local Business

Post Date:08/30/2017 9:16 PM

FIRE 1Members of Carrollton Fire Rescue (CFR) graciously accepted five pet oxygen masks on August 2 from Invisible Fence of Greater Dallas through the brand’s Project Breathe™ Program, further supporting the capabilities of CFR’s public safety efforts for the community.

Invisible Fence of Greater Dallas, located in Denton, supports North Texas fire departments by participating in Project Breathe™. The donation program is designed to provide pet oxygen mask kits to fire departments and other first responders. Each kit includes a small, medium, and large mask. So far, the program, in partnership with fire departments nationwide, has saved an estimated 10,000 pets from structure fires and smoke inhalation.

“A Carrollton firefighter’s job is to save life, whether human or animal,” said Kenneth Fredrickson, CFR EMS Support Specialist. “Humans are always the first priority, but now, more pets can be saved by having the right equipment.”

Fredrickson said the masks are engineered to better fit over the animal’s snout and efficiently deliver the oxygen it needs. He said during the process, paramedics and EMS can actually perform CPR and inflate the lungs in an effort to successfully revive the animal.

The masks have proven themselves effective in Carrollton as one family who lost everything in a house fire last March thankfully did not lose their family pet Willie. CFR recovered the yellow Labrador from the fire and revived the animal with the help of the pet oxygen mask kit as well as veterinary paramedicine training they had received through a partnership with the Texas A&M Veterinary School, a project facilitated by a local girl scout.

“As a retired volunteer fireman for 17 years, it hits close to home,” said Bobby Swan, Owner and Operator of Invisible Fence of Greater Dallas. “Providing these resources so firefighters can make an effort to save these pets’ lives is important. It’s a way for us to give back.”

Swan said the organization, which specializes in pet containment and protection, is very happy with the success rate they have seen from Project Breathe™.

The Greater Dallas branch is an authorized, full-service dealership of genuine Invisible Fence Brand products and services. Companies, groups, and individuals can support Project Breathe™ by donating at invisiblefence.com/O2.
