ATMOS Energy to Replace Section of Pipeline in Carrollton Area

Post Date:12/06/2017 2:31 PM

atmos-energy-pipeline-imgATMOS Energy will begin replacing 3 miles of existing 18-inch pipeline with 20-inch pipeline within the Carrollton area. The line starts near Frankford at Old Denton and travels north through Castle Hills up to a transfer point on FM 544. The entire length is located within an ATMOS gas easement. The existing line was constructed more than 50 years ago, crossing streets, public property, and private property. Since the easement was in place, home and building construction was prohibited over the easement, but trees were planted.

ATMOS plans to begin the project in January 2018 with tree removal within the easement area. Construction of the new line is planned for April through November 2018. Four crews will be used to install the line to minimize the impact to the community.

Approximately 250 property owners in Carrollton and Castle Hills will be impacted by this construction. ATMOS is committed to working with these homeowners to address any damage to their property, including tree removal and landscaping restoration.

The purpose of this project is to improve the capacity of the gas main and ensure reliability and safety of the system.
