The City of Carrollton has begun Stage 1 of conserving water during peak usage hours. From May to September residents must restrict their outdoor watering to midnight to 10 am or from 7 pm to midnight; no watering is allowed from 10 am to 7 pm.
Come visit with public safety representatives from the 911 Dispatch Center, Police Department, Fire Department and the Police K9 Unit on Saturday, May 15 from 9am-1pm at Crosby Recreation Center (1610 E. Crosby Road). Enjoy a bounce house and other fun activities.
The Carrollton Police Department is launching a new program initiative, in partnership with specially trained alumni of the Carrollton Citizen Police Academy. These graduates now volunteer their time as part of the Carrollton Citizen Patrol, performing tasks such as parking violation enforcement that allow police officers to concentrate on other aspects of their job.
Last day to reserve a space for the Community Garage Sale is Wednesday, May 12. The garage sale will be held on Saturday, May 15 from 9am-1pm at Crosby Recreation Center, 1610 Crosby Rd.

Be a part of history on Saturday, May 1 at the dedication of a City historical marker recognizing the site of the former Union Baptist Church, the first Baptist congregation in Dallas County, established in 1846. The dedication ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. at the A.W. Perry Cemetery (1511 N. Perry Road, north of the A.W. Perry Museum).

The April 6 City Council worksession started with an introduction of Carrollton’s new Police Chief Rex Redden, who is scheduled to start on April 19 (see related story). Councilmembers decided to move forward with installation of video cameras in the Council Briefing room, so that worksessions could be televised.
City Manager Leonard Martin has announced the selection of Rex Redden as the next Police Chief for the Carrollton Police Department, with a start date of April 19, 2010. Redden has over 20 years of law enforcement experience, serving the last six years as Assistant Chief of Police in McKinney, Texas.
