General information

A permit is required for the installation of a support structure for an amateur radio antenna. Criteria for installation of such support structures is located in Section D of Article XXVIII of the City’s Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance. If a contractor is used, that contractor must be registered in the City of Carrollton.

Plans submittal requirements

  • A copy of a site plan or Property Survey of your property with dimensions indicating the location of the antenna support structure on the property
  • The plan needs to indicate how the structure will be constructed and anchored, the materials used and wind load calculations
  • Application needs to be accompanied by plans and specifications demonstrating compliance with the provisions of Article XXVIII of the City’s Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance
  • The plans and specifications need to clearly delineate and identify the dimensions, size, type and location of the support structure and, if applicable, the guy wires; the location, depth and type of guy anchors; the type, size, number and weight of the maximum antennas or apparatus to be attached to, or supported by, the support structure; or any other information deemed necessary by the Building Official.


An inspection needs to be scheduled upon completion of work.

Fees and Applications

A permit fee is required, and an application must be completed and submitted to the Building Inspection department.
