The Criminal Investigation Division of the Police Department is comprised of four different sections and is primarily responsible for ongoing criminal investigations, crime scene investigations, property and evidence management,  and crime victim services. Commander Mike Bishop manages the Criminal Investigative Division: michael.bishop@cityofcarrollton.com 

The unit is staffed with four sergeants, six civilian staff, one civilian section manager, and 28 officers and is divided into five sections.

Criminal Investigation Division Sections: 

• Personal Crimes Section 
This section is responsible for investigating homicides, assaults, threats, cold case review, and other crimes against a person. Sergeant Paul Fritz supervises the Detectives assigned to this section: paul.fritz@cityofcarrollton.com

• Cars/Financial Crimes Section
This section is responsible for investigating car thefts, car burglaries, financial crimes, fraud, and identity theft. Sergeant Clyde Buchanan supervises the Detectives assigned to this section: clyde.buchanan@cityofcarrollton.com

• Property Crimes Section
This section is responsible for investigating business and residential burglaries and thefts. Sergeant Bill Janecek supervises the Detectives assigned to this section: bill.janecek@cityofcarrollton.com

• Crime Scene Investigations
This section is responsible for crime scene investigations, evidence collection and evidence processing. Sergeant Bill Janecek supervises three Crime Scene Investigators: bill.janecek@cityofcarrollton.com 

• Property and Evidence Section
