Board of Adjustment
(BOA)
The BOA meets the fourth Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the
Council Chambers, City Hall, 1945 E. Jackson Road. Request is to be in
the Building Inspection department no later than the third Wednesday of
the month prior to the date of the meeting. A fee for presenting a
request to the Board is $200.00 and is paid at the time the request is
submitted for placement on the agenda. The approval of this Board is
not a permit. Any permit must be processed and reviewed based on the
Board's action.
The board consists of nine (9) members. The board is empowered by
state law to review and make exceptions to the City’s Zoning Ordinance
or other administrative decisions of the City for the purpose of
rendering full justice and equity to the general public. (Comprehensive
Zoning Ordinance Article XXXII). In addition, the Board of Adjustment
also makes exceptions to the City Sign Ordinance, Article XV Chapter
150 Code of Ordinances.
Please include in your application of request:

Cover letter describing type of request, such as a variance, special
exception or appeal of interpretation or decision

Site plan that indicates the proposed request

Denied application for construction, if applicable

Any documents presented at the hearing as evidence are required to be
retained by the Board Coordinator in the official record. For

Construction Advisory and Appeals Board (CAAB)
The CAAB meets the third Thursday of
each month at 1:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers on the second floor at City Hall, 1945
E. Jackson Road. Request is to be in the Building Inspection department
no later than the third Wednesday of each month prior to the date of
the meeting. The fee for presenting the request to the board is $200.00
and is paid at the time the request is submitted for placement on the
agenda. The approval of this board is not the permit. The permit is
issued after the meeting if it is approved by the board and must be on
the job site before construction is begun. Please include with the
application a letter describing the nature of the request.
The board
consists of nine (9) members. The board shall hear and decide appeals
of orders, decisions or determinations made by the Building Official
and Fire Marshal relative to the application and interpretation of
building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, fire and housing codes as
well as the visibility ordinance. The board shall receive and file
applications for electrical licenses and notify applicants of the time
and place of electrical examinations and the results thereof. (Sec.
