Historic Preservation Advisory Committee

General Information


The Historic Preservation Advisory Committee (HPAC) consists of 9 members appointed by City Council. The Committee advises and makes recommendations to City Council regarding the preservation and protection of the City's architecturally and/or culturally significant resources for future generations.  Urban Development provides staff support to this committee.

HPAC meets in Meeting Room 1W2 (click here for directions) of Carrollton City Hall.  Enter the building from the north (Jamestown Drive) side where the big parking lot is.  The south (Jackson Road) side doors may be locked at night.

All meetings are open to the public, and HPAC always welcomes any interested visitors!

SPECIAL MEETING
The Historic Preservation Advisory Committee will hold a SPECIAL MEETING on Wednesday, June 4, 2008.  The location and time will be the same as a regular meeting.

2008 Quarterly Meetings
In accordance with City Council Resolution 2727, HPAC holds regular meetings quarterly, rather than monthly. The four regular meetings for 2008 will be:
  • Wednesday, February 6, 2008
  • Wednesday, May 7, 2008
  • Wednesday, August 6, 2008
  • Wednesday, November 5, 2008

Carrollton Depot Photos

Historic Resource Survey

HPAC has completed an Historic Resource Survey. The intent is that this will be a "living" document that will be updated and added to as new information becomes available.

Historic Preservation Ordinances

On July 16, 2002, City Council approved Article XX.3 of the Comprehensive Zoning Ordinance, creating an historic preservation overlay district which could be applied to property in Carrollton.

On May 6, 2003, City Council approved the first historic overlay district - the Carrollton Heights Historic District.
