The city of Carrollton has a program that permits neighborhood associations to apply for
installation of neighborhood identification signs in their respected neighborhoods.
These guidelines detail the requirements and procedures for sign
design/approval, sign purchasing/fabrication and sign installation. Your
association will be responsible for purchasing the signs from a company of your
choice. Public Works approves the sign design only if
it complies with all the requirements listed in the guidelines and installs the signs once they have been approved, purchased by your
association and delivered to the city of Carrollton.
Please follow the guidelines
carefully to ensure that your sign has been approved for installation before
ordering and purchasing the signs. For additional information, please
contact the Public Works Traffic Operations Division at 972-466-9872.

Procedure
-
Have the sign company of
your choice design your neighborhood sign following the Sign Design Specifications listed on the following page. The sign
company will likely charge you for this design work. The sign design
you submit must include the sign color, font, shape,
thickness, size and sheeting type. Once your sign design is
complete, have the sign company print you a copy of the completed sign design,
attach it to your neighborhood sign request form, and send it to Public
Works Traffic Operations Division, 2711 Nimitz Lane, Carrollton, Texas 75007 for approval.
-
Traffic Operations Division will review your request and send you
verification of the design approval. Traffic Operations Division will also
verify how many signs you will need for installation in compliance with the
installation guidelines.
-
After receiving approval of your sign request, contact the sign company
and order your signs. Your association is responsible for all costs associated
with the design and fabrication of your signs. These signs should be picked up
by you or delivered to your association after they are fabricated.
-
Once you have received all of your signs, contact Traffic Operations
Division to schedule the
installation of your neighborhood signs.

Installation Guidelines
1. Neighborhood association identification signs will be installed only
within the boundaries of neighborhood associations officially recognized by the
City of Carrollton.
2. There
are two options regarding the number of signs to be installed within the
boundaries of your neighborhood.
Option 1: Install Neighborhood Identification signs along the perimeter
boundary or
entrances to
your neighborhood, only.
Option 2: Install Neighborhood Identification signs at all intersections
within the
boundary of
your neighborhood.
You will need to select which
option your prefer, on the attached request form. The Traffic Operations
Division will verify how many identification signs you will need when approving
your installation request. The specific locations eligible for installation will be listed on your request once it is approved and returned to
you.
3. Identification signs will only be installed on top of existing street
name sign assemblies.
4. Once approval has been granted and the signs have been fabricated, you
may deliver the signs to the Public Works Department, which is located at 2711
Nimitz Lane between the hours of 7:30 a.m.
and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
5. Installation of your neighborhood identification signs should be
completed within 90 working days after the City has received your signs.
6. When any neighborhood identification sign needs replacement due to
vandalism, loss, or normal wear, the neighborhood association will be
responsible for all associated costs. A new request form will need to be
submitted in order to install the replacements. All procedures for fabrication,
approval, and installation will apply to replacements.
7. The city of Carrollton reserves the right to remove any neighborhood
identification sign, which becomes unsightly. When possible, the neighborhood
association will be notified of the removal and the location where the sign may
be picked up.
Submit a request to participate in the Neighborhood
Identification Sign Program.
