Background and Education
Councilmember James Lawrence grew-up in Central California on a family farm and attended schools in the Kerman school district. He attended California State University, Fresno and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. He was commissioned an Officer in the US Army Reserve through the ROTC program and served thirteen years in that capacity. James and his family moved to Carrollton twelve years ago. 


Public Service 
Councilmember Lawrence was elected to Place 1 of the Carrollton City Council in May 2015, and currently serves on the Audit/Finance Subcommittee. He is also the liaison to the Capital Improvements Plan Advisory Committee (CIPAC), Library Board, and Traffic Advisory Committee (TAC). He has served as Vice-Chair on the Property Standards Board from October 2011 until February 2015. He currently serves on the Hebron High School Building Leadership Team and  the LISD Facility Advisory Committee. 

Professional and Personal 
Councilmember Lawrence has worked in sales management for over twenty-five years and currently leads Sales Training and Enablement for an Addison software company serving the finance and accounting industries. He and his wife Olga have been married for twenty-three years and they have three children, ages 22, 19, and 17. Olga has worked at Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD for over ten years.
