Third Grade

The Carrollton Public Library recognizes the fact that every child learns to read and develops as a reader at his/her own unique pace. The following list is very general, and is in no way designed to be prescriptive.

Individual Titles

Byars, Betsy. Tornado.

The further adventures of the Quimby family as Ramona enters the third grade.

Clements, Andrew. Frindle.
When he decides to turn his fifth grade teacher's love of the dictionary around on her, clever Nick Allen invents a new word and begins a chain of events that quickly moves beyond his control.

Dahl, Roald. Fantastic Mr. Fox.
Three farmers, each one meaner than the other, try all out warfare to get rid of the fox and his family.

Dalgleish, Alice. Courage of Sarah Noble.
Remembering her mother's words, an eight-year old girl finds courage to go alone with her father to build a new home in the Connecticut wilderness and to stay with the Indians when her father goes back to bring the rest of the family.

Third grader Judy Moody is in a first day of school bad mood until she gets an assignment to create a collage all about herself and begins creating her masterpiece, the Me collage.
