What is National Library Week?

National Library Week is an annual celebration of the contributions of libraries, librarians and library workers in schools and communities nationwide.

The Carrollton Public Library is celebrating National Library Week, April 13-19, by showcasing "Why You Love Your Library" at both library locations.

Why I Love My Library Trees

Look for the "Why I Love My Library Tree" made up of leaves telling why customers love their library at either library location. There's still time to fill out a leaf of your own. Both trees are near the Kids Place entrances.

I am recently retired, and am very much enjoying the fiction section, especially Nelsonian sea tales, of late, and other stories about the Napoleonic wars. I really appreciate the excellent online resource, and use the preferred search function constantly. As always, the librarians and staff are courteous and very helpful, and it's just easy to "do business" with the Carrollton Library. Thanks so much for what you do for us!

During my 13 year history in Carrollton, I've actually lived within walking distance of both the Josey Ranch location (which used to be in the courthouse) and now the Hebron location.  I've been blown away with Carrollton's commitment to providing library services that go above and beyond. From the info desk (which was in operation way before Google) to the video/music checkout, to downloadable audio books, I'm impressed. I feel very lucky that I get all of this for free. I love my library because of the friendly staffers and amazing view. It is so easy to go there and study because someone is always willing to help. Weight is being taken off of my shoulders when I grasp the lake and the air around it. I love that the library has a lot of old movies such as Mary Poppins or The Outsiders movies. It is much better than going to blockbuster sometimes. It is definitely one of my favorite places to be when I need to escape.

The Josey/Hebron Carrollton Public Library is absolutely the best! My 2 year old enjoys Toddler Time with its great music, books, and friendly librarians. Some of his favorite books include works by authors Byron Barton, Elsa Minarik, Dr. Seuss, Margaret Wise Brown, just to name a few. And thank you so much for the email reminder notices, as well as the periodic newsletters that keep us informed about local events. Please keep up the great work. The Carrollton Libraries are a huge asset to our community.

The library in Carrollton has been instrumental in bringing me and my 4-yr old son closer. I used to travel across the US and hardly got time time for him. Once I was off the road, the regular visits to the library and the time spent here have made the trip a regular part of our weekly routine. The H&J library staff is very friendly and helpful. This is truly a wonderful experience.

I LOVE the Carrollton libraries; as a mother they are great way to spend time with my kids in a healthy environment, quiet leisure time alone just reading a book or magazine. As a student (BSBA in Health Services Management) provide me with great tools to complete my school work anywhere there is internet access (awesome databases), or at the actual library being able to just sit down and quietly working on assignments, access to music hard to find else where i.e. classical music, instrumental music, among others nice and relaxing that help me stay focused on my school work. Being able to bring in beverages that have a lid, it's nice to be able to drink a cup of coffee whle working or just spending some quiet time away from the chaos of everyday life. I LOVE the Carrollton libraries because of the great staff, availabiity of resources; quiet, healthy, safe, and comfortable environment.

I LOVE my Carrollton library at Josey Ranch for many reasons. My number one favorite service is being able to browse books online and then put them on hold from home. I also like being able to manage my account online from home to see if my holds are ready and renew anything I have borrowed. And I LOVE the self checkouts. As a homeschooling mom, this library is a huge resource for me! Thank you so much! Thank you for providing the convenience of being able to put books on hold and then go through the self checkout. My 5-year-old son wants to recommend his favorite books that we have checked out at the library: all the books in the Nate the Great series by Marjorie Weinman Sharmat. He recommends them to all kids who like mysteries and detectives. Happy National Library Week!!!!
