eBooks from NetLibrary

The Carrollton Public Library, in conjunction with the Texas State Library's TexShare program, is pleased to offer its cardholders access to a collection of NetLibrary eBooks. eBooks are electronic books for reading, reference, and research.

Technical Requirements

Required browser versions (click the browser's name to go to the site for downloading)

• Firefox 1.0 and above
• Mozilla 1.1 and above
• Netscape 6.2 and above
• Opera 7.0 and above
• Internet Explorer 5.5 and above

Adobe® Reader® 4.0 or higher

Access Information

Within the library you just click "View this eBook" to read an eBook in 15 minute increments.

Your Carrollton Public Library card number is the only thing needed outside the library if you:

• click the link for NetLibrary on the library's database page to find eBooks
• click the link in a catalog record reading "An electronic book accessible through the World Wide Web; click for information"

You need to set-up a NetLibrary Account if you

• want to make notes on an eBook using the Notes tab
• want to customize your account to specify the interface language
• want to create a list of Favorite eBooks
• want to go directly to the NetLibrary site rather than using a link on the library's site
• want to check out downloadable audiobooks

Other information about eBooks:

• Viewing time is in 15 minute increments when not logged in. If you are not actively viewing the item, it returns to the Carrollton Public Library collection for someone else to view.
• You cannot download eBooks or check them out.
• NetLibrary eBooks are listed in the library's catalog and identified with this icon
  
• To search for eBooks go to Keyword search and limit "Material Type" to "Electronic Book."
• NetLibrary eBooks are available from virtually any location with access to the Internet.
• You may search the whole text of an eBook to find specific keywords.

Account Set Up

NetLibrary Account setup only requires:

• choosing a user name
• choosing a security question ad giving the answer
• entering you first and last name
• entering your e-mail address

From home:

• Go to NetLibrary signup from home. Have your library card handy.

OR

At the Library:

• Go to either Carrollton Public Library. map
• Go to NetLibrary signup.
• Complete the form (all fields are required).
• Click "submit" when finished.

When you are finished setting up your account you will be able to access books online by going directly to the NetLibrary site, logging in with your new User name and Password, and searching. When you log in, you will be recognized as a Carrollton Public Library customer and will see any books available in our collection. You can also change the user interface language, make notes using the "Notes" tab, and save a list of favorite eBooks.
