Ride Your Bike to Work Day - Friday, May 16

The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) and the city of Carrollton would like to invite you to participate in National Bike to Work Day on Friday, May 16, 2008. You are encouraged to take this day as an opportunity to break out of the regional habit of driving to work alone – the habit of 79% of regional commuters – in support of alternative commuting for one day.  We realize that the infrastructure to support bicycle commuting is under development in many areas of the region and comfort levels for on-street riding are diverse.  However, the physical, environmental, and mental rewards of commuting by alternative modes are numerous. Please also consider arranging a carpool or vanpool, commuting by bus or rail, or walking to activities for this one day in support of Bike to Work Day. Click here to view flyer.

Follow the steps below to celebrate National Bike to Work Day and assist NCTCOG in tracking alternative mode commuter data.

1.  Map Your Route. DFWmaps.com can assist you with locating existing facilities and you can create a map using your home address as a starting point.

3.  Log Your Ride. Create an account at TryParkingIt.com. Log your commute by May 23 (biking, transit, walking, or carpooling). By logging your commute, you will be eligible to win a gift card!

4.  See the Results. Log on to the NCTCOG Bicycle and Pedestrian Home Page after May 27 to see:
