CARROLLTON CITIZEN POLICE ACADEMY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION The Carrollton Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association is a non-profit, tax-exempt organization funded by dues and contributions, consisting of citizens who have graduated from the city's Citizen Police Academy. Members support the Carrollton police department by doing child fingerprinting, running bike safety rodeos, and helping with other crime prevention and police-sponsored community activities like Santa Cops and Shattered Dreams. The organization coordinated the effort to raise the money for a bullet-proof vest for the late canine officer Rikko, and donates other equipment to the police department as funds are available. Association members also show their support for the police by periodically sponsoring "Officer Appreciation" lunches. Members are eligible to join the Texas Crime Prevention Association, which provides classes in crime prevention to police officers & citizens across the state. The Alumni Association is a member of the Citizen Police Academy Alumni Association of North Texas, a regional association that provides information exchange and networking to member associations in North Texas.
