VoIP Phone Service

Are you considering a Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP)/Broadband Phone?

Not all VoIP/Broadband Phone carriers provide full access to enhanced 9-1-1 service.  During an emergency, VoIP/Broadband Phone 9-1-1 service may not work, may be limited, or may not go to the correct 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP).  Also, your telephone number and address may not be displayed on the 9-1-1 screen.

It is suggested that before you sign up for a VoIP/Broadband phone, read over all 9-1-1 information carefully to fully understand the 9-1-1 capabilities.  If you have questions, contact that carrier and ask if they provide access to full enhanced 9-1-1 service, which means your call is going to the correct 9-1-1 dispatch center with the display of your telephone number and address.
