The spay / neuter voucher is worth up to $50.00 of the spay/neuter procedure.  Any additional cost charged by the veterinarian will be the sole responsibility of the adopter.

All animals adopted from the Carrollton Animal Shelter must have a current rabies vaccination. If the new pet is not currently vaccinated, we will transport the animal to a local veterinarian to receive a rabies vaccination.  The fee associated with the vaccination will be paid by the adopter to the veterinarian.

Carrollton Animal Services does not guarantee the health of any animal adopted from our shelter. Any and all medical cost incurred by an adopted animal will be the adopters sole responsibility.

Adoption Procedures

  1. Pick out an animal

  2. Fill out all necessary forms

  3. If necessary, make an appointment with a veterinarian in Carrollton to perform the spay/neuter procedure and receive a rabies vaccination

  4. A Carrollton Animal Services Officer must take the animal to the veterinarian of your choice within the city limits.

  5. If the animal is too young for the procedure you must sign a contract stating that the procedure will be done by a provided deadline. Failure to have the procedure performed may result in citations being issued.

  6. Pick up your new pet from the veterinarian's office.

Carrollton Animal Services holds most stray animals for five(5) days to allow time for an owner to reclaim his/her pet.  Adoptions are completed on a first come first serve basis.  We will not reserve an animal under any circumstances.

We invite you to look at our adoptable animals by either clicking here or by personally visiting the Animal Shelter at 2727 Nimitz Lane. If you have further questions please call (972) 466-3420.
