As a Smartscape gardener, you will be promoting an ecologically friendly way to manage your landscape, conserve water, and even protect our water supplies.  Her are some of the benefits.

* Many native plants are drought-tolerant, so they need less water and are easier to maintain.  Going native will reduce your summertime plant casualty.

* About half of our water consumption during warm months is for outdoor use.  Using less water will lower your water bill.

* Smartscape features plants with built in defense mechanisms that significantly reduce the need for fertilizers and pesticides.  by decreasing our dependence on lawn care products, we can keep harmful chemicals from washing into our waterways during a downpour.  That means a cleaner environment for all of us to enjoy.

* Smartscape settings can provide a desirable sanctuary for songbirds, butterflies, and other Texas wildlife.

* Smartscape projects are fun for the whole family.  Get the kids involved.  They are natural born diggers who can really appreciate the hands on opportunity of a gardening facelift.

* Landscaping improvements tend to increase your property values.
