Should this happen, all visitors will need to immediately vacate the fire station and keep away from exiting apparatus. For this reason, as well as for your protection, it is necessary to restrict tour group size as follows:
NOTE: It is requested that there be at least 1 adult for every 2 children present under the age of 7. Tour times vary in length depending upon the size of the group and type of presentation provided. Special presentations may be available for your tour group. Please contact Fire Prevention at 972-466-3210 or email for more information. Fire engines/trucks and ambulances may be scheduled to come to your school, business or National Night Out event. For scheduling an event, please complete the Apparatus Visit form and fax or email as indicated. NOTE: A minimum of two weeks notice is required. Although one or more of these apparatus may be in attendance at your location, please note that they will still be in service and subject to leaving on emergency response calls. Because of this it is important to designate easy entrance and exit parking space(s) for the apparatus to exit from your facility. Please indicate parking arrangements on the Apparatus Visit form you submit. Shattered Dreams Program is a multi-agency program involving the Carrollton Fire and Police departments at our local high school on a rotating basis each year. To learn more information please visit Shattered Dreams The Youth Fire Setters Program provides an alternate approach to help youths that play with fire or maliciously set fires. This program attempts to provide training for these youths that may keep them from being sent directly into the juvenile justice system. For more information on this program please email or call us at 972-466-3210 and/or you may download an informational flyer on the Juvenile Firesetters Program (pdf Format). As of August 2005, all Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD elementary and middle schools have been utilizing NFPA’s (National Fire Protection Association) Risk Watch® life safety curriculum. Risk Watch® is a comprehensive, school-based injury prevention curriculum, with instruction modules that target the eight major risk areas that kill or injure the most children each year. These modules are:
For children ages 14 and under, the #1 health risk is not kidnapping, drugs, or disease. It is injuries. Each year these injuries kill more than 7,000 kids and permanently disable more than 50,000. That is more than drugs and disease combined. Thirteen million children – one in four – are injured seriously enough to require medical attention. Risk Watch® is the first injury prevention program available that can easily be integrated into a school’s core curriculum subject areas, such as health, language arts, and physical education. For additional information regarding Risk Watch®, visit their Web site or contact Fire Prevention at 972-466-3210 or email. If you are interested in having Risk Watch® become part of your school’s education curriculum, please contact Mark Haseloff, Battalion Chief, Fire Prevention, by email. Presentations are available for Senior Citizen groups within the city of Carrollton regarding home fire safety, kitchen/cooking safety, falls prevention, and fire and life safety for the disabled. Please contact Fire Prevention at 972-466-3210 or email for additional information or to schedule a presentation. NOTE: A minimum of two weeks notice is required. Remembering When® : a fire and fall prevention program for older adults, developed by NFPA (National Fire Protection Association), is a program that contains ideas for conducting fun and interactive safety presentations for senior citizens. It is designed for anyone wanting to promote safety for senior adults. Remembering When® can be used for group presentations, home visits, or for individuals looking for information on how to protect themselves from fire and/or falls. The guidebook and presentation materials have been distributed to several locations throughout the Carrollton/Farmers Branch area (see listing below). You may visit these locations to review or checkout the materials. Contact Fire Prevention at 972-466-3210 or email for additional information.

Library CPR / AED / First Aid Training Carrollton Fire Department utilizes the American Heart Association’s CPR training curriculums, and has established the Emergency Medical Education organization as its training coordinators. Their goal is to make CPR training available and affordable to all businesses and residents of not only Carrollton but all of the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Listed below is general information regarding the different types of CPR classes that are offered. Click here to be directed to the CPR class registration form. Adult CPR / AED
What is an AED? An electrical device that is placed on an individual who has gone into sudden cardiac arrest, which provides a shock to help the heart re-pace itself to a normal beat. During a sudden cardiac arrest, the lower chambers of the heart suddenly stop beating normally and develop what is called ventricular fibrillation. This is the chaotic heart rhythm that is similar to where the hear muscle begins quivering which prevents the heart from effectively pumping blood. If this condition is not corrected immediately, death will follow within approximately 10 minutes. An AED is the only known device/technique that stops the chaotic electrical heart activity and allows the heart to re-pace itself to a normal rhythm. Occasionally the heart will re-pace itself, and if the patient has received CPR in this instance, he/she can or may survive. Utilizing an AED increases these odds of survival from approximately 5% with just CPR, to as much as 80% if an AED is placed on the patient within a few minutes of sudden cardiac arrest. Please complete the CPR Registration form to schedule a class, or contact the Emergency Medical Education organization for additional information.
