The study, comparing the nation’s 300 largest cities, used 17 key metrics, ranging from median house prices and real estate taxes, to median home price appreciation and price-to-rent ratios. Carrollton sits high atop the list along with other North Texas cities like Allen, Denton, Frisco, Plano, McKinney, and Richardson. No Texas cities were ranked in the bottom half of the list.

“Carrollton’s unique balance of quality municipal services, good schools, shopping, entertainment, parks, and affordable home pricing makes it one of the most sought after locations in the Dallas Metroplex for first-time home buyers as well as for those looking for a full range of value housing choices,” said Marc Guy, City of Carrollton Assistant City Manager. “We strive to be a low cost provider of high quality housing and services, and it’s great to be recognized on a national level.”

Broken Arrow, Okla. tops the list overall, and Richmond, Calif. comes in at No. 300.
