Post Date:07/23/2015 7:00 AM
first time home buyersThe City of Carrollton landed the No. 7 spot on WalletHub’s 2015 list of Best and Worst Cities for first-time home buyers.

The study, comparing the nation’s 300 largest cities, used 18 key metrics, ranging from housing costs to real-estate taxes to property crime rates. Carrollton sits high atop the list along with other North Texas cities like Allen, Frisco, Plano, McKinney, Grand Prairie, and Richardson. No Texas cities were ranked in the bottom half of the list.

“Carrollton combines an exceptional mix of housing with extensive parks and amenities in a central location,” said Mayor Matthew Marchant. “Our safe neighborhoods and quality schools are very attractive to new residents.”

The ranking is an improvement from 2014’s 11th place standing. Overland Park, KS tops the list overall, and Compton, Calif. comes in at No. 300.
