Carrollton Plays Home to 6th Healthiest Housing Market in National Study

Post Date:08/27/2015
wh healthy housingA strong housing industry has officially returned, and the City of Carrollton ranks No. 6 on WalletHub’s study of thriving markets throughout the country.

To help prospective home buyers find the most attractive housing markets, the finance website compared 300 U.S. cities across 14 key metrics.

WalletHub writer Richie Bernardo writes, “Our data set ranges from median home-price appreciation to home price as a percentage of income to job growth.”

Insurance company Nationwide has also been tracking the national health of real estate. Their findings indicate that since 2001, the overall housing market is healthier than it’s ever been. One contributing factor to this steady upturn since the recession is the national unemployment rate which has dipped to a seven-year low of 5.3 percent.

“More jobs, soaring rent prices, and rising consumer confidence just might encourage lenders to open doors to more first-time home buyers,” Bernardo writes.

In fact, Carrollton recently landed the No. 7 spot on WalletHub’s 2015 list of Best Cities for first-time home buyers.

“Carrollton combines an exceptional mix of housing with extensive parks and amenities in a central location,” said Mayor Matthew Marchant. “Our safe neighborhoods and quality schools are very attractive to new residents.”

WalletHub is a personal finance social network launched in 2012 by Evolution Finance. It acts as a one-stop destination for all the tools and information consumers may need to make better financial decisions and save money.
