Planning Modifications Delay WinCo Construction
The City of Carrollton understands many residents have been left wondering about the progress of the WinCo Foods grocery store development at the former Target site within the Trinity Valley Shopping Center located at the northeast corner of the President George Bush Turnpike (SH-190) and Josey Lane.
As of this week, the project is approximately three months behind schedule due to some unanticipated structural and geotechnical challenges. Both WinCo and The Weitzman Group Cencor Realty Services have adjusted their plans accordingly and are excited to be proceeding with this project.
The demolition will be completed in the next few weeks and WinCo intends to break ground this fall.
All involved parties are dedicated to minimizing the disruptions of noise, dust, and debris that could negatively impact the surrounding retailers, offices, and residents.
WinCo Foods, a Boise, Idaho-based discount grocer and one of the country’s most successful regional grocers, announced plans in February to develop a new ground-up 82,077-square-foot anchor store at Carrollton’s Trinity Valley Shopping Center.
In January 2015, the Target Corporation closed the existing store after a long-term evaluation of its financial performance. WinCo is now scheduled to open in mid to late 2017.
