fest poster 2016Come out and feel the hometown pride on Saturday, November 5 in Downtown Carrollton as the 7th Annual Festival at the Switchyard kicks off with the local talents of Chelsea Mayo, Thrill Bill, and Straight Tequila Night.

R.L. Turner High School graduate and songwriting prodigy Chelsea Mayo will open the event with the national anthem at 11 a.m. Mayo is the recipient of the inaugural National Endowment for the Arts Musical Theater Songwriting Challenge for High School Students. She received a $2,500 scholarship for winning the Dallas round with her song “Say Goodbye” and landed a spot on stage in New York City as part of the competition finals.

Following Mayo, Denton’s alt rock band Thrill Bill will show the crowd just how they earned their Festival performance slot after winning Carrollton’s Battle of the Bands back in April. Thrill Bill has played venues all over the Metroplex, and will surely rev the crowds for the Festival. After many iterations of band members, the four-piece has a renewed motivation to become the sexiest, spiciest band ever made.

Straight Tequila Night will launch the afternoon’s entertainment with a healthy dose of country music—‘90s country music. Dallas’ premiere country cover band plays all the favorite hits from ‘90s and ‘00s country radio including hat acts like Toby Keith, Garth Brooks, George Strait, Tim McGraw, and of course, John Anderson. This group never leaves a boot unscooted, so make sure to catch the show at 12:20 p.m.

From contest winners and cover singers, Carrollton’s Festival at the Switchyard is sure to please a range of musical palates.

Festival-goers will enjoy mainstage entertainment all day on Saturday, November 5 leading up to headliner Barenaked Ladies who will take the stage at 8:50 p.m. A full entertainment schedule as well as the entire musical line-up will be announced soon.

Sponsorship opportunities are still available for the event which hosted over 27,000 patrons in 2015. Applications for craft vendors and volunteers continue to be accepted.
