Post Date:04/06/2017 4:31 PM
Bob GarzaCarrollton, Texas – City of Carrollton Councilmember Bob Garza has informed the Mayor and City Council he has relocated his family to Denton, Texas effective April 6. Per the terms of the City of Carrollton charter, this constitutes an automatic resignation of his seat. Garza’s Place 4 seat was already scheduled for the May 6 ballot and no special election will be necessary.

Garza took office as a Carrollton Councilmember in May 2011, was re-elected in May 2014, and was set to end his final term in May 2017.

“As a 27-year resident of Carrollton, it saddens me to leave the community I have loved and served in. In my retirement, I have chosen to relocate to Denton for family reasons. My intent was to finish out my term; however, the process of selling my home happened quicker than I expected. I am grateful to the citizens of Carrollton for allowing me to serve them as a Councilmember for the last six years,” commented Garza.

Mayor Matthew Marchant added, “We are grateful for Bob’s years of service to the City of Carrollton and wish him and his family the best in the years to come.”

Mayor Marchant and the City Council will make a presentation to Garza at the regular May 2 council meeting thanking him for his service to the city.
