Vertical Horizon to Open 9th Annual Festival at the Switchyard; Stay Tuned for Headliner Announcement
The City of Carrollton is excited to announce Vertical Horizon as the first of two nationally known openers for its headlining entertainment at the 9th Annual Festival at the Switchyard.
Come check out the no-nonsense pop rock band’s hit ‘90s and early 2000s tunes like “Everything You Want” at the free, award-winning Festival on Saturday, November 3 in Downtown Carrollton (1106 S. Broadway Street) from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. In addition to free concerts, the City puts together a full day of fun with free live entertainment, free rides and games, free activities for children of all ages, and an array of food vendors and Festival booths to shop from.
Vertical Horizon rose to fame in the late ‘90s, selling more than 2 million copies of their breakout album, Everything You Want (1999). The single also captured the #1 spot on Billboard’s Hot 100 and Adult Top 40 charts and became Billboard’s Most Played Single of 2000. The band garnered further attention with songs like “You’re a God” and “Best I Ever Had” before taking a hiatus to pursue individual interests.
The group started work on a new album in 2007, releasing critically acclaimed Burning the Days in 2009, which featured singles “Save Me from Myself” and “The Lucky One.” Vertical Horizon’s newest album, The Lost Mile (2018) was just released in February and features songs such as “I’m Gonna Save You,” “Written in the Stars,” and “Lighthouse.”
Excitement builds for the Festival year after year with attendance reaching an all-time high of 40,000 in 2017. The City will announce the second Festival opening act in July followed by the headliner in August.
Festival sponsors to date include Atmos Energy, Bath Expo and Window Expo, Dallas Observer, DART, DFW Child Magazine, iHeartRadio, LeafFilter Gutter Protection, Pop’s Kettle Corn, Resort Vacations Inc., and Suburban Parent Magazine.
