Post Date:08/16/2018 5:32 PM

The City of Carrollton has a full lineup of free fall events from September through December on the Square in Historic Downtown Carrollton (1106 S. Broadway Street). It’s the season for free two steppin’, movies, concerts, yoga, and Carrollton’s signature event, the Festival at the Switchyard, all with family-friendly, community-centered fun. The fun continues with a concert tribute to America’s heroes in November, and Santa on the Square and the Carrollton Snow Globe photo opportunity in December.

Fall-OTS-ImageStep on the Square, Saturday, September 8, 6-9 p.m.

Enjoy an evening under the stars to kick off another season of food, fun, and music for the whole family. The action begins at 6 p.m. with two-step dance lessons interspersed with songs from the hardest hittin’ country rock band in DFW: Big City Outlaws.

The band will jump the fence from country to top 40 all night long, and have crowds two stepping and line dancing to an array of classic hits. The event includes great food and beverages for purchase from area food trucks, such as funnel cakes, potato swirls, corn dogs, sausage on a stick, fried Oreos, fried Snickers, iced tea, and lemonade.

Movies on the Square, Saturday, September 29 and October 27, at Sunset

For an evening of galactic adventure and comedic vampires, Carrollton is showing two movies on the Square this season. The first, Thor: Ragnarok (2017), PG-13 on Saturday, September 29, finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) imprisoned on the planet Sakaar, locked in a deadly contest of gladiators on the far side of the universe. Pitted against the Hulk, his former ally and fellow Avenger, Thor must survive to race against time to stop Ragnarok, the destruction of his home world, Asgard, at the hands of the powerful and ruthless villainess, Hela (Cate Blanchett).

Then, on Saturday, October 27 at 6:30 p.m., start the Halloween season off right with a mini-pumpkin giveaway, pumpkin painting, and a fall craft, followed by an 8 p.m. screening of Hotel Transylvania 2 (2015), PG, winner of the 2016 Kids’ Choice Awards for favorite animated movie. The hotel has now been open to humans for seven years and Dracula (Adam Sandler) is worried about his half-human half-vampire grandson who is lacking in vampire abilities. Drac decides to enlist his friends to help in a “Monster-in-training” boot camp for his grandson but runs into an unexpected visitor that could soon turn things upside down.

Yoga Digest Fest, Saturday, October 6, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Come out and celebrate the community, make new friends and share in spreading a mindful and healthy lifestyle with the entire family.
