K9 Team Named Top In Nation

Post Date:05/12/2010 2:00 PM

On April 23, 2010 the two K-9 teams from the Carrollton Police Department competed in the National Narcotic Detector Dog Association (NNDDA) 2010 National Competition in Shreveport, LA. Approximately 125 K-9 teams from across the nation took part in this annual event.

The competition, which is part of a larger K-9 training and certification conference, consists of a timed search where each K-9 team searches a large area for concealed narcotics. Officer Withers and K-9 “Argo” placed second in the law enforcement competition.

Officer Sanchez and K-9 “Bosko” along with Officer Withers and K-9 “Argo” were also awarded the Top Law Enforcement Team award for the highest combined score from two K-9 teams from the same law enforcement agency.

Officers Withers and Sanchez and their K-9 partners spent the four days prior to the competition attending various training classes and working on narcotics detection scenarios at the NNDDA Conference. Both K-9 teams also recently completed their annual NNDDA Narcotics Detection Certification.
