Celebrate Halloween in Carrollton this October

Halloween-in-Carrollton-imageGet in the spirit of All Hallows Eve in Carrollton with spooktacular events to satisfy both the bravest and the most timid trick-or-treater. ‘Tis the season for picking out pumpkins, watching scary movies, learning about ghosts, taking a Spooky Tour, and trick-or-treating for candy or a free book.

Perry Pumpkin Patch
Saturday, October 20, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The A.W. Perry Society and the City of Carrollton will usher in the fall fun with the annual Perry Pumpkin Patch at the A.W. Perry Homestead Museum (1509 N. Perry Road).

Bring the family and picnic in the park. Enjoy old-fashioned games and crafts, participate in the pie-eating and pie-baking contests, compete in the Halloween costume contest, and choose a pumpkin to celebrate fall. Paranormal Porch Panel and Movie on the Lawn,
Saturday, October 20, 5-9 p.m.

Later that evening, find out if the historic Perry Cemetery is haunted. The free Paranormal Porch Panel will reveal the truth and unravel the mystery, as ghost hunters explain the results of their investigation of the cemetery. Hunters will disclose findings, demonstrate equipment, teach attendees how to perform an investigation, and field questions from the audience. Following the presentation, stay for a screaming, err, screening of George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead (1968), NR. A blanket and a lamp are recommended.

Mother/Son Monster Mash,
Saturday, October 20, 6-9 p.m.

Moms, enjoy a HOWLING good time with your sons. Come out for a kid-friendly haunted house and have fun with a bounce house, dancing, games, snacks, door prizes, raffles, and meet real SWAT team members and firefighters. Come as you aren’t and wear your favorite costume. Take a photo with your little ghoul(s). Photos will be available for purchase. No dads or daughters, this is an event for mothers and their sons. Spooky Tours at the Perry
Tuesday, October 23 – Thursday, October 25, & Saturday, October 27
5-5:45 p.m., 6-6:45 p.m., or 7-7:45 p.m. tour times

Looking for even more mystery and excitement? Take a Spooky Tour of the A.W. Perry Homestead Museum, explore the oddities of 19th century life during the Halloween festivities, and discover what the creaks and thuds mean in this vintage environment. Tales of Victorian ghosts, disease-ridden soup, and creepy dolls are a small taste of what you will find. Register at cityofcarrollton.com/signupnow. Library Fall Festival,
Thursday, October 25, 6-8 p.m.

Drop in for some free, fall family-friendly fun at Josey Ranch Lake Library (1700 Keller Springs Road). Enjoy games, art activities, stories, a cupcake walk, face painting, prizes and more. Costumes are encouraged, and remember to bring your own treat bag.

Movie on the Square and Mini Pumpkin Giveaway
Saturday, October 27, 6:30 p.m.

Continue the Halloween activities in Historic Downtown Carrollton (1106 S. Broadway Street) with a free mini-pumpkin giveaway, pumpkin painting, and a fall craft, followed by an 8 p.m. screening of Hotel Transylvania 2 (2015), PG, winner of the 2016 Kids’ Choice Awards for favorite animated movie. The hotel has now been open to humans for seven years and Dracula (Adam Sandler) is worried about his half-human half-vampire grandson who is lacking in vampire abilities. Drac decides to enlist his friends to help in a “monster-in-training” boot camp for his grandson but runs into an unexpected visitor that could turn things upside down.

Children ages 12 and under, wear your Halloween costume to either Hebron & Josey Library (4220 N. Josey Lane) or Josey Ranch Lake Library (1700 Keller Springs Road) and pick out a free book while supplies last.
