Carrollton’s 9th Annual Festival at the Switchyard Hosts Biggest Crowd Yet

Post Date:11/07/2018 4:48 PM
STP new-01-01The City of Carrollton’s 9th Annual Festival at the Switchyard broke attendance records once again with more than 40,000 guests enjoying free concerts, free children’s activities, free rides and games, quality food and craft vendors, and great beer and wine all day long.

The warm weather brought the crowds out to enjoy corny dogs and turkey legs, watch the kids play on the bungee trampolines, and enjoy performances from artists such as Counterfeit Radio, Redline, Straight Tequila Night, Jelly Ellington, Texas Flood, and Downtown Fever.

Vertical Horizon brought us back to the sweet sound of the ‘90s with pop-rock hits like “Best I Ever Had” and “Everything You Want” before Tonic rocked the Square with classics like “You Wanted More” and “If You Could Only See.”

After about an hour delay due to rain and thunderstorms in the area, Stone Temple Pilots took the stage, and their performance was worth the wait. Concert attendees sang every syllable of the band’s rock ‘n’ roll anthems such as “Plush,” “Interstate Love Song,” and “Vasoline.”

Festival guitar winnerFor the third year, Festival fans had the opportunity to win a custom-wrapped guitar signed by the opening and headlining bands. Self-proclaimed Stone Temple Pilots fanatic Jennifer Gibson won the guitar through the City’s social media contest and brought home a brand new six-string.

Festival goers have another chance to win a signed, custom-wrapped souvenir guitar by completing an attendee survey by Monday, November 12 at 11:59 p.m. Visit to take the survey.
