MI Windows and Doors received  Carrollton’s 2017-2018 Environmental Distinction Award.

The City of Carrollton Environmental Services Department recognized 11 local companies for their commitment to environmental principles and efforts in creating and maintaining a sustainable community at the City Council meeting on December 11.

Mayor Kevin Falconer and Mayor Pro Tem John Sutter presented the 2018 Environmental Leadership Award to 11 Carrollton companies that have consistently complied with industrial pretreatment and stormwater regulations for a full year. BuzzBallz, ElectroPlate Circuitry Capital, ElectroPlate Circuitry Century, Halliburton Energy Services, Illes Food Ingredients, Image Industries, International Paper-Beltline Road, MI Windows and Doors, LLC, Quality Powder Coating, LLC, QuikTrip #930, and WMC Industrial were granted leadership awards at the meeting.

Previously known as the Consistently Compliant Award, the City renamed it the Environmental Leadership Award to reflect the exemplary partnership between these industries and the City of Carrollton. Each company receiving the award has displayed vigilance and diligence in fulfilling industrial requirements to ensure the safety of Carrollton’s water.

A panel of environmental quality managers in the City along with a representative from the City Council reviews these companies each year to determine which are meeting and exceeding requirements to display environmental excellence. From the 11 companies awarded the Environmental Leadership Award in 2018, MI Windows and Doors was selected to receive the Environmental Distinction Award. This award is given to organizations that display leadership in creating a sustainable future in their facilities and in the community through commitment to compliance, demonstration of enhanced pollution prevention practices, and display of environmental stewardship through recycling efforts, resource reductions, and more.

MI Windows and Doors has fabricated aluminum doors and windows in Carrollton since 1967. Over the last year, MI Windows and Doors was able to eliminate two hazardous substances from its paint operation and recycle 4,377,119 pounds of scrap aluminum. These recycling efforts have helped reduce water usage, air pollution, and waste sent to landfills.

With a commitment to achieve environmental excellence and to improve the quality and vitality of the community, each company is commended for their leadership in creating a sustainable future. For more information, contact Environmental Services Department at 972-466-3055.
