Carrollton to Host Ghost Town Event on the Square – If You Dare!
The City of Carrollton, in partnership with Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District (CFBISD), is hosting the inaugural Ghost Town event on Saturday, October 26 starting at 5 p.m. in Historic Downtown Carrollton (1106 S. Broadway Street).
Come for this spooktacular event – If You Dare! Embark on a scavenger hunt for ghosts, grab some candy, enjoy spooky music spun by a live DJ, make a craft or two, and pick up a free mini-pumpkin. Pumpkins will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Starting at 5 p.m. and ending when the movie begins, kids will be able to paint a pumpkin, create a “monster hand” card, or wrap a “yarn mummy.” All supplies, including the pumpkin, will be provided. Test your skills for prizes at games on the event’s carnival midway including bean bags and ring toss. The more adventurous can scavenge for hidden ghosts amid a graveyard-like setting. Participants will follow clues throughout the Square, find each ghost, take the ghost’s picture, and present their findings. Collect photos of all the ghosts and receive a spooky treat.
Most importantly, don’t forget to wear your best Halloween costume and come to the Gazebo on the Square at 6:30 p.m. for a chance to win the costume contest. After the contest, stick around for some trivia on Halloween movies and stay for a showing of the classic Halloweentown (1998), TV-G at sunset (approximately 7:30 p.m.). Thirteen-year-old Marnie Piper learns she is a witch on her birthday and follows her Aunt Aggie into a world of ghosts, ghouls, witches, and werewolves, where wicked warlocks are trying to take over the town.
Don’t forget your lawn chairs and blankets, and bring some spending money for a few treats. JBW Vending will be on site selling funnel cakes, corn dogs, sausage on a stick, potato swirls, fried Oreos, fried Snickers, iced tea, and lemonade.
Ghost Town sponsors to date include Dallas Medical Center, HelloFresh, Texans Credit Union, New York Life Insurance Company, and Sam Pack’s Five Star Ford. For more information, visit cityofcarrollton.com/downtown.
