Celebrate Halloween Early at the Carrollton Public Library Fall Festival

Post Date:09/25/2019 10:32 AM

Drop in for some free, fall family fun and celebrate Halloween early at the Carrollton Public Library at Josey Ranch Lake (1700 Keller Springs Road) from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, October 25. Enjoy games, art activities, scary stories for kids of all ages, a cupcake walk, face painting, prizes, Halloween trivia, and more. Costumes are encouraged, and remember to bring a bag for collecting treats.

Outside the Library, take a turn on the giant, inflatable slide and stop by the annual Trunk or Treat cars and tables where Carrollton City employees will be on hand to drop a Halloween surprise into kids’ trick-or-treat bags.

Multiple face painting artists will be available to enhance the fun. Inside the Library, crafts, including pumpkin prints, a Washi tape mummy, and paper cup ghosts are sure to entertain the toughest ghouls. Up to the challenge? There will be games including Feed the Monster, Spooky Ball Toss, Bat Target Practice, Ghost Ball Toss and Witch’s Brew, with prizes given upon completion.

Want a quieter moment? Listen to readings of age-appropriate stories including “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” and “In a Dark, Dark Room” by Alvin Schwartz, “The Thing at the Foot of the Bed” by Maria Leach, the story of the “Crying Children of Carrollton” by an anonymous writer, and much more.

Attendees can also test their courage in the Spooky Room by reaching into mystery boxes and guessing the elusive substances inside. Embark on a scavenger hunt to test wits and capture the magic of the evening in the Library’s photo booth. Bottled water and popcorn will be provided to attendees.

Interested in sponsoring a part of the event? The Library depends on outside support in the form of in-kind donations. For this event, consumables (e.g., water, popcorn, and cupcakes) and early literacy prizes for ages birth to 5+ years for the carnival games (i.e., Halloween coloring books, mini Play-Doh containers, crayons, glitter tattoos, mini Halloween notepads, filled goody bags with mini treats, pencils, bubbles, Halloween stickers, LED glow rings, etc.) would be greatly appreciated. For organizations looking to go the extra mile, sponsorship for the giant inflatable slide is also needed.
