Carrollton Opens Annual Pet Photo Contest
The City of Carrollton has opened its annual photo contest for locals to showcase their favorite furry friends by submitting pictures of their pets for entry into a 2020 wall calendar.
The contest will feature one grand prize winner whose pet will receive the coveted calendar cover along with other sponsorship goodies, as well as 12 winners whose pets will grace the pages of each month for a total of 13 winners. All winners will receive a free calendar at the conclusion of the contest.
Participants can enter multiple photos of as many pets as they would like, but individual pets are only eligible to win one month. Each photo entry is $5 and all entries must be received by 5 p.m. Thursday, August 1.
All proceeds will continue to benefit the Carrollton Animal Services & Adoption Center (2247 Sandy Lake Road). Last year’s contest proved a success with more than $2,600 raised from photo submissions, sponsorships, and calendar sales.
“We’re always grateful for the community’s positive response to this important effort that features Carrollton’s pets while supporting the care and treatment of future pets. We hope to continue that success into the contest’s fifth year,” said Animal Services Manager Carl Shooter. “We still have some 2019 calendars available for purchase at a discounted rate.”
Photos will be considered for the 2020 calendar if they are submitted in a high resolution digital format and emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or sent to City Hall, c/o Marketing Services (1945 E. Jackson Road, 75006). Mailed in or dropped off photos must be on a CD or a memory stick; no paper photos. Include with photo submission: animal’s name, owner’s name, phone number, and email address.
Cash or check payments can be made in person or mailed to City Hall, Marketing Services. Electronic payments can be made online through Carrollton’s WebTrac registration system at cityofcarrollton.com/signupnow. Just find the Photo Contest button and fill out the form. A RecTrac account is required.
The contest is open to everyone from amateurs to professionals. Photo submissions will be judged on composition, creativity, and cuteness! Furry friends only, no humans please. Winners will be announced in August.
“Last year, we saw some great photos, but I know there are even more creative moments to show off. We loved the themed photos, the seasonal shots, the Carrollton scenery, and even the holiday-inspired pictures,” Marketing Director Kelli Lewis said. “This award-winning calendar is a major fundraising project for the Adoption Center and residents have shown just how much they support animal health and wellness in our community.”
The City will launch the sale of the calendars in September. Look for updates to the contest at various events throughout the year.
