Carrollton Fire Rescue Awarded Achievement of Excellence Gold Award
The Prevention Division of Carrollton Fire Rescue (CFR) was awarded the 2019 Achievement of Excellence Gold Level Award by the Texas Fire Marshal’s Association (TXFMA) at the annual conference in October.
“This award is the only formal recognition for performance excellence given by the Texas Fire Marshal’s Association,” Carrollton Fire Chief Gregg Salmi said. “A big congratulations on a job well done goes to Fire Marshal Herb Cavenaugh and the entire Prevention team for this recognition.”
To successfully receive the Achievement of Excellence in Fire Prevention (AEFP) award, the applicant must obtain a total of at least 125 points for Bronze Level, 150 points for Silver Level, and 175 points for Gold Level. Carrollton received 190 of the 200 points possible.
“I am very excited and proud to present this Gold Level Award to the City of Carrollton Fire Rescue,” TXFMA President John Paul Erskine said. “Their hard work in fire prevention activities has earned such a prestigious award through their dedication and professionalism, which are the cornerstones of this award, association, and its members.”
Points are awarded in eight categories: authority, organization, and ethics; fire and life safety programs; performance metrics and CQI (Continuous Quality Improvement) program; web-based communications and automation; certification, education, and development; professional organizations; fire prevention legislation or ordinances; and task force and other cooperative programs.
“I would like to congratulate our entire fire prevention team for winning this prestigious award,” Cavenaugh said. “This is the first time that CFR has entered this competition. To have brought home any award, especially the highest level possible, is quite an accomplishment.”
Cavenaugh went on to say that Carrollton is the only city in the State of Texas to earn the coveted Gold Award in 2019.
“This is a team effort in which everyone played a key role,” he said. “I am very proud to be part of an organization that truly puts the safety of our citizens first and exhibits CFR’s core values daily.”
TXFMA is the official State Chapter of the International Fire Marshal’s Association. The award was presented on Thursday, October 24 at the Annual Texas Fire Marshals Association Conference and Awards Banquet in Austin.
