Carrollton Holds Spring Family Campout at R.E. Good Soccer Complex - postponed until May 18

Post Date:03/06/2019 7:00 PM

UPDATE: This event has been postponed due to the weather. The City of Carrollton will reschedule the fun for Saturday, May 18. Check back here and on social media for more updates.

Join us for a night beneath the stars at the Spring Family Campout at R.E. Good Soccer Complex (2355 Sandy Lake Road), past Elm Fork Nature Preserve. Campgrounds open at 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 6.

Spring-Campout-ImageCampers are encouraged to set up camp quickly so everyone can enjoy the fun and games. Participants may bring sports balls and games, or other items to play with while at the campsite, in addition to the yard games that will be set up including cornhole, connect four, and giant jenga. Bikes, scooters, skates (non-motorized only), and dogs on a leash are all welcome.

Dinner will be provided including hamburgers, hotdogs, chips, water, and lemonade, as well as marshmallows for roasting over the bonfire and graham crackers and chocolate for s’mores. Followed dinner, Sing (2016), PG will be shown at sunset. The movie stars Buster Moon (voiced by Academy Award-winner Matthew McConaughey), a dapper Koala who presides over a once-grand theater that has fallen on hard times. His vision draws together a mouse, a timid elephant, a pig, a gorilla, and a punk-rock porcupine, as five unlikely contestants in the world's greatest singing competition to bring back the life of his crumbling theater.

This event is an excellent opportunity to experience the outdoors without having to leave the City. Families can enjoy the campout experience with s’mores by the fire, sleeping in a tent under the stars, and still have the added comfort of a provided meal, restrooms, and a great movie for the whole family.

Participants must bring their own camping equipment. The cost is $10 per camper or $8 per person for Saturday only (dinner and movie). Registration is required for every individual camper. On-site registration is available from 5 p.m. until dark.

As everyone breaks camp in the morning, a light breakfast of pastries, muffins, and cinnamon rolls, with orange juice, fruit juice, and water will be provided. Campsites must be clear by 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.
