Carrollton Parks & Recreation Department Offers New Summer Day Camp
Wondering what to do with the kids during the summer? Send them to Camp Wonder, a new summer day camp offered by the City of Carrollton. Camps will be held Monday through Friday for children 5-12 years old. The day camp will be held weekly beginning Monday, June 3 and will run through Friday, August 16. Campers can be dropped off at 7:30 a.m. and picked up by 6 p.m. at Crosby Recreation Center (1610 E. Crosby Road).
Camp Wonder consists of 11 one-week sessions with a different theme each week. Themes include Jump Start, Going Wild, LEGO® Palooza, Under the Sea, EnviroKids, Sportastic, Wide World of History, Summer Chillin’, Kids Just Wanna Have Fun, World of Water, and Best of the Best. Camp fees for each session are $140 per week for residents and $154 per week for non-residents.
Daily activities include arts and crafts, sports and athletics, games, group activities, movies, water days, and more. Campers will go on weekly field trips to fun places like AT&T Stadium, Epic Waters, and The Old Red Museum. Each camper will be provided with one T-shirt to be worn on field trip days.
“The Parks & Recreation Department is continually seeking new and better ways to engage the community,” Carrollton Parks & Recreation Director Scott Whitaker said. “Camp Wonder offers recreation, education, and field trips to create a fun experience and an opportunity to develop friendships along the way.”
Camp Wonder operates with a state-approved licensing exemption and follows City Council-approved Standards of Care.
