Celebrate Summer in Carrollton

Celebrate summer in Carrollton at a variety of City events all season long. Take the children to Carrollton’s free Youth Fishing event; read a book and earn points and prizes; surprise dad with breakfast tacos or mom with a “Foodie Passport” complete with food samples, cocktails, and a World of Foodies Fest souvenir glass; watch the fireworks over Josey Ranch Lake; catch a movie at the Rosemeade Rainforest Aquatic Complex; and much more. Beat the heat and have some fun in Carrollton, where there is always something for everyone.


Youth Fishing Event
Saturday, June 1 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. – Free

The first Saturday in June is designated as a Free Fishing Day by the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, so children age 16 and under can come out to Josey Ranch Park Pond (1440 Keller Springs Road) and have fun; no license necessary. The pond will be generously stocked with adult catfish and prizes and trophies will be awarded to the children who catch the longest and second longest fish in three age categories: 6 and under, 7-11, and 12-16. It is recommended that participants bring their own equipment, but loaner rods, reels, bait, and tackle will be provided as supplies are available. Register at the event; there is no preregistration. Summer Reading Program Kickoff: C-Con
Saturday, June 1 from 1-8 p.m. – Free

Celebrate the beginning of the Library’s Summer Reading Program at the inaugural C-Con (Carrollton Convention) event. Fans of all ages are invited to Josey Ranch Lake Library (1700 Keller Springs Road) to enjoy comics, games, art, trivia, and more. The youngest heroes up to age 8 will have an opportunity to show off in a costume parade, followed by a judged competition for more seasoned cosplayers ages 9+. Father’s Day Breakfast
Saturday, June 15 from 9-11 a.m. – Free

Start dad’s day with a smile by grabbing a breakfast taco at the A.W. Perry Homestead Museum (1509 N. Perry Road) and then enjoy games in the beautiful 10-acre setting of Pearl Perry Gravley Park. Whether taking dad to the movies, the park, or a historic home, he will need fuel for his day. Free breakfast (limited to the first 150 attendees) and beverages will be served. World of Foodies Fest
Saturday, June 29 from 3-9 p.m. – Free

Chow down on a world of culture and cuisine on the Historic Downtown Carrollton Square (1106 S. Broadway Street) while enjoying authentic international refreshments, photo ops, free henna, games, and live performances. The event is free to attend, but bites will be available for individual purchase in sample portions. “Foodie Passports,” for ages 21+, can be purchased before the event for $30 while supplies last at Passports include two cocktails, five food samples, and a souvenir glass. Fourth of July Concert
Wednesday, July 3 from 12-1 p.m. – Free

The entire family is invited to enjoy patriotic music at the Carrollton Senior Center (1720 Keller Springs Road) performed by the New Horizons Band. In-N-Out Burger will be serving free box lunches including a hamburger or cheeseburger with chips and a drink from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (one lunch per person). No registration is required. Community Fireworks Display
Thursday, July 4 at 9:30 p.m. – Free

The City will host a 15-minute Community Fireworks Display over Josey Ranch Lake (1700 Keller Springs Road) on Thursday, July 4. The fireworks are scheduled to begin after sunset at approximately 9:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to view the display from their neighborhood or from one of the few parking areas available. Christmas in July, Saturday, July 13 from 6-8 p.m. – Free

Swim-In Cinema
Friday, July 19 from 7-10:30 p.m.

Join us at the newly renovated Rosemeade Rainforest Aquatic Complex (1334 E. Rosemeade Parkway) for a poolside showing of Space Jam (1996), PG. Open swim will be offered from 7 p.m. until dusk and the movie will begin shortly after sunset. The cost to attend is $5 for residents, $7 for non-residents, and $3 for children ages 4-6 (season pass holders receive a $2 discount). Driver license must be presented for resident rates. Movie Night, Saturday, August 10 at Sunset – Free

Bring lawn chairs to Downtown Carrollton (1106 S. Broadway Street) and watch a family friendly movie, Incredibles 2 (2018), PG. Watch as Elastigirl is sent on a mission to make supers legal again and Mr. Incredible is left to care for Jack-Jack, Violet, and Dash.
