Carrollton Appoints New Pro Tem Positions
The Carrollton City Council appointed members Young Sung and Frances Cruz as Mayor Pro Tem and Deputy Mayor Pro Tem, respectively, during the June 18 meeting.
Sung, who was elected to Place 6 in 2017, previously served as Deputy Mayor Pro Tem for the 2018-2019 year. He will complete his term in 2020.
“I am honored by the support shown by my fellow City Councilmembers in their nomination and my selection as Mayor Pro Tem,” Sung said. “I look forward to serving and continuing to focus on public safety, strengthening the City’s inclusiveness of diversity, bringing in new businesses, improving infrastructure, and furthering relationships with our schools. Carrollton is a great City and I will work to support and enhance Carrollton’s strengths.
Cruz was elected to Place 4 in 2017 and will complete her term in 2020.
“I am humbled by the support shown by my fellow City Council members in my selection as Deputy Mayor Pro Tem,” Cruz said. “I hope to serve in this position as an advocate for the Council's shared priorities of public safety, economic development, positive redevelopment, strong infrastructure, and fiscal responsibility.”
Cruz went on to say that Carrollton is a great place to live, work, and play because of its interested and involved citizens. “Council’s vision for Carrollton is to be the community that families and businesses want to call home. It is a beautiful place with social and economic diversity, caring first responders, a professional and dedicated staff, and amenities that offer something for everyone. It is an honor to serve citizens in this new capacity.”
