The City of Carrollton’s Community Fireworks Display typically held on July 4 has been moved to Veterans Day, Wednesday, November 11, this year to accommodate social distancing concerns in the wake of COVID-19.

The new date for the 15-minute display will allow the City to continue to provide a high-quality fireworks show for residents, while honoring our nation’s heroes for their service and sacrifice in celebration of Veterans Day. The display will be held at 7 p.m. over Carrollton’s Veterans Memorial Plaza located adjacent to Josey Ranch Lake (1700 Keller Springs Road).

With the public's health and safety in mind, there will be no on-site event and no public access. Residents are encouraged to watch from their homes if possible, avoid gathering in large groups, and keep pets indoors to minimize a stressful reaction to the sudden sights, sounds, and smells of fireworks. In case of escape, make sure pets are wearing a collar with an identification tag, are microchipped, and are registered with the City. Viewers are reminded to practice social distancing from those not in their household, remaining at least six feet away from others, even when outdoors.

Should the ever-changing Texas weather present a problem, a rainout date of Friday, November 13 at 7 p.m. has been scheduled.

Carrollton Fire Rescue reminds citizens that it is illegal to possess, manufacture, store, sell, handle, or discharge fireworks within Carrollton City limits. While all fireworks are illegal, Class C consumer fireworks include most over-the-counter items such as bottle rockets, roman candles, sparklers, spinners, and sparkle fountains.
