Together, these companies have been honored by the City of Carrollton with this annual award more than 100 times for their leadership and commitment to excellence and the environment.

Previously known as the Consistently Compliant Award, the City renamed it the Environmental Leadership Award to reflect the exemplary partnership between these industries and the City of Carrollton. Each company receiving the award has displayed vigilance and diligence in fulfilling industrial requirements to ensure the safety of Carrollton’s water.
A panel of environmental quality managers in the City along with a representative from the City Council reviews these companies each year to determine which are meeting and exceeding requirements to display environmental excellence. From the 15 companies awarded the Environmental Leadership Award in 2020, International Flavors & Fragrances (IFF) was selected to receive the Environmental Distinction Award. This award is given to organizations that display leadership in creating a sustainable future in their facilities and in the community through commitment to compliance, demonstration of enhanced pollution prevention practices, and display of environmental stewardship through recycling efforts, resource reductions, and more.
International Flavors & Fragrances has been manufacturing dry food seasonings and flavors in Carrollton since 1986 and has been ISO 14001:2015 certified since August of 2016. Over the last year, IFF implemented a pH monitoring modem on their pretreatment system to allow for more control; designed and installed a polyethylene (HDPE) plastic rinsing station to rid the recyclable material of potential fugitive substances; and began removing and replacing traditional lights with light-emitting diode (LED) lights in the facility. In addition, the facility continues to recycle all product tailings by sending the leftovers to chicken farms to be used as feed.
With a commitment to achieve environmental excellence and to improve the quality and vitality of the community, each company is commended for their leadership in creating a sustainable future.
