The Town of Addison is continuing work on the Midway Road Revitalization Project at the Belt Line/Midway intersection and from Hornet Drive to Proton Road. Over the next few weeks, crews will be replacing the large waterline valves in the intersection and installing new waterlines across Belt Line Road. This work is being completed in phases to minimize the impact on area businesses as much as possible.

Nearly one-fourth of the new waterline has already been installed from Spring Valley to Belt Line. This work is running concurrently with the pipe and valve replacement at the intersection to expedite the revitalization efforts.

Various lane closures will continue to occur over the next several weeks as the work progresses. Some work will be performed during evening hours to minimize the impact on utility service in the area. Addison work crews are still on schedule to have the new paving in the southern portion of the project completed by Fall 2022. Carrollton Citizens See Increased Construction at Intersection of Midway Road at Belt Line Road

Posted 3/15/2021 9:51 AM

Midway-Road-2-Lane-imageCarrollton citizens can expect increased construction at the intersection of Midway and Belt Line Roads. Traffic lanes will periodically shift and at least two lanes of traffic will be open in all directions.

Addison’s Midway Revitalization Project is expected to take six months to complete. Phase 1 involves the verification of the 24-inch water line and is expected to take two to three days. Phase 2 involves the demolition of short sections in the median, installation of temporary pavement, and is expected to take seven to ten days.

Installation of the new water lines will take three to four weeks during Phase 3, and the remaining time will be spent on the demolition and construction of street pavement.

Intersection reconstruction is expected to be completed in July, pending weather and utility delays, and contractors will then work on the section of Midway Road between Spring Valley and the completed intersection at Belt Line Road. Work in this section is expected to be completed by October 2022.

Final construction of the revitalization project on Midway Road will occur between Belt Line Road and Keller Springs Road with an expected completion date of February 2024.

The Town of Addison’s construction team is working with property owners to ensure their customers have continuous access to the property during construction, and variable message boards and signage have been placed around the intersection to provide advance warning of construction activities.

Carrollton citizens can expect short-duration lane closures beginning Monday, March 8 at the intersection of Midway Road and Belt Line Road, and continuing over the next several weeks as works starts on the Midway Revitalization Project.

Variable message boards have been placed around the intersection to provide advance warning of construction activities.

There will be some short-duration lane closures along the Midway Road corridor as the utility and communication companies adjust and relocate their facilities to accommodate the project.

Due to construction activities related to the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Silver Line Regional Rail Project, expect a temporary lane closure on one northbound lane of Midway Road, just north of Belt Line Road on Friday, March 5 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Carrollton Citizens To See Traffic Impacts As Town of Addison Begins Midway Road Revitalization Project at Belt Line

Posted 2/3/2021 2:30 PM

Construction for the Town of Addison’s Midway Road Revitalization Project is scheduled to begin at the intersection of Midway Road and Belt Line Road, in Addison, in the coming weeks and will remain at that location for approximately six months before moving south on Midway Road through Farmers Branch to Spring Valley Road, then north on Midway Road through Carrollton to Keller Springs Road to complete the construction. Addison expects the project to take three years to complete.

Addison voters approved a bond package in 2012 for the replacement of Midway Road from Spring Valley Road to Keller Springs Road to be funded in General Obligation (GO) bonds. The scope of the project was increased in 2019 by Addison’s City Council to include water, sewer, and storm utilities, enhanced sidewalks and sidewalk updates, wider medians, a hike and bike trail along the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Silver Line Regional Rail, and enhanced landscaping to accommodate Addison’s new Master Transportation Plan elements to be funded in Certificates of Obligation.

Town of Addison staff is in the process of working with its contractors to finalize the phasing and traffic plans.

Once the final plan is in place, Addison will be able to share a more definitive schedule for lane closures and traffic switches. Variable message boards will be placed around the intersection one week before any permanent lane closures are implemented.

In the meantime, there will be some non-peak hour temporary lane closures to install temporary traffic signal system components and locate buried utility lines.
