Community Invited to Recycle Beyond the Bag for Bench Program
The City of Carrollton Parks & Recreation Department has introduced a new recycling program that will turn plastic bags, wraps, and films into Earth-friendly composite benches for enjoyment throughout Carrollton’s City facilities and green spaces.
Bags to Benches is a way to recycle beyond the bag and will involve community residents’ participation. From Monday, September 27 through Monday, February 28, 2022, the goal is to collect more than 600 pounds of recyclables, and in return, NexTrex, a film and bag recycling company, will create a park bench made from all the donated plastic products. As of Monday, October 11, the community has already collected 191 out of the 600 pounds needed.
Drop off locations include the Crosby Recreation Center, Rosemeade Recreation Center, Carrollton City Hall, Carrollton Public Library at Josey Ranch Lake, and Carrollton Public Library at Hebron & Josey. Look for the white bins at each facility.
The City is excited to partner with NexTrex as it is always looking for innovative ways to serve the community and help the environment. This program will provide great new eco-friendly, outdoor furniture for residents to enjoy throughout Carrollton.
