The City of Carrollton’s Marketing Services team was honored to win four first-place 2024 Blue Pencil and Gold Screen Awards for marketing and communications efforts from the National Association of Government Communicators (NAGC). 

The Blue Pencil and Gold Screen Awards are an annual national awards program that recognizes superior government communication products and those who produce them. The awards give communicators the opportunity to share some of their best work, innovation, and creativity.

Entries are judged by teams of professional communicators. The annual NAGC conference awards program serves as a professional highpoint for government communications nationally. In addition to the peer recognition fostered by the NAGC, the process allows all participating members to learn more about what best practices and innovative communication tools are being used around the world and provides invaluable networking opportunities and practical educational sessions to help government communicators increase their skills.

The City of Carrollton garnered two first-place awards in the Graphic Arts and Print - Piece categories, for the design and promotion of the poster artwork for the 2023 Festival at the Switchyard, the City’s signature event. The NAGC judges noted the poster’s unique composition and style elements set the tone for the successful event. The City also received two first-place awards in the Print - Brochure and Reports - Annual Reports categories, both for the design and communication of Carrollton’s 2021-22 Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR).

“Carrollton’s vision set by the City Council is to be the community that families and businesses want to call home,” Marketing Director Kelli Lewis said. “I’m proud of our Marketing team’s work toward that vision and the prioritization of citizen engagement to increase awareness, excitement, and investment in our City. It is an honor to be recognized for those efforts by our peers at a prestigious national organization such as NAGC.”
