The award was given specifically for the organization’s impact on its residents in the Bronze category, covering cities with populations between 25,000 to 200,000 citizens.

“The City of Carrollton is setting the standard of excellence for economic development with its LYV Broadway Downtown Mixed-Use Multifamily Catalyst For Entrepreneurs project. This award highlights Carrollton’s commitment to its community and demonstrates the transformative impact of economic development,” said Nathan Ohle, IEDC President and CEO, “It is with great pride that IEDC presents this award to the City of Carrollton, celebrating their leadership and innovation in the field of economic development."

The LYV Broadway project (1415 S. Broadway Street) is a public/private partnership developed to include six leasable live/work units for entrepreneurs and small businesses as part of their multi-use multifamily development, according to Carrollton Development Services Manager Josh Giles. The project is situated at the southern end of Carrollton’s Historic Downtown to strengthen the area’s commercial presence. Since the construction completion in 2021, the series of live/work units achieved and has maintained a 100 percent occupancy rate with four of these sub-tenants being minority-owned businesses.

Every year, IEDC looks specifically for economic development organizations, government entities, initiatives, and programs that have demonstrated consistent, exemplary performance in the economic development profession, leading the execution of projects that have a significant impact on revitalizing communities, and playing a major role in shaping and improving the practice of economic development.

“We are absolutely thrilled to announce this year's award winners. These exceptional projects showcase remarkable dedication and ingenuity within the field," said Kevin Kramer, Chair of IEDC’s Excellence in Economic Development Awards Advisory Committee. “The City of Carrollton’s contributions will leave a lasting impact and demonstrate its commitment to creating positive change for its residents.”

The IEDC is a non-profit, non-partisan membership organization serving economic developers. With more than 4,300 members, IEDC is the largest organization of its kind.

“Carrollton continues to capitalize on innovative partnerships to promote Downtown Carrollton as a premier historic, mixed-use district to uphold its reputation as a place where entrepreneurs and small businesses thrive,” Carrollton’s Executive Director of Development Ravi Shah said.
